InSchool Fashion - Yajayra

Hey guys! So as promised I am doing a post about fashion within my school hallways. This is one of my really good friends Yajayra. She also has a blogspot which I'll link below.
What I appreciate about Yajayra is that she is a risk taker when it comes to fashion. She doesn't really care about the social norms. because lets be serious here, I would never be brave enough to wear an outfit like this to school.
I saw her in the hallway and I died, I told her I need to do a post about it because its such a perfect spring transition outfit. Her jean jacket brings in fall and the colors scream "nautical" which is a spring trend. Plus you guys know how I love my Bright Colored Pants, speaking of which is a very SPRING trend, again.

(December 2011)

A few weeks later I was pawing through a Nordstrom catalogue and I found this, and I instantly thought of Yajayra's outfit. She knows how to fashion forecast. Tell me this is not the same outfit? I was in absolute shock.

Want to dress like Yajayra?

Go leave Yajayra a nice comment telling her how great her style is. LOVE IT.

Fashion Week February 2012: Neck Appeal

Hey guys! I know everyone does posts about Fashion Week trends, but I don't care. I'm doing one too! Except I'm doing a trend that most bloggers/magazines didn't pick up on:

NECK APPEAL

 (Argentine Designer Cardon)
 (Chado Ralph Rucci)
 (Charlotte Ronson)
 (Elie Tahari)
  (Elie Tahari)
 (Falguni & Shane Peacock)
 (Falguni & Shane Peacock)
 (Jad Ghandour)
 (Michael Kors)
(Michael Kors)
(Anthony Vaccarello)

Many different designers used scarves, necklaces, intricate necklines, or turtlenecks to elongate and play up the neck. I like this trend, its beautiful and elegant. Comment and tell me what you think?

psstt. White Jeans AFTER Labor Day

I suppose this title is a little misleading, I guess it should be "White Jeans....AT ALL." White jeans are really risky, confusing, and can very easily turn trashy if worn incorrectly.

(I'm on the left... obviously because I'm wearing the white jeans)
(I had to crop my head out of this one, but its just to give you a better look at my outfit)

These pictures are actually from October, so this is more of a "fall white jeans" look rather than spring. But just like my Christmas list I figured better late than never! Essentially my approach to white jeans is muted colors. Sure there are some people who will go for the ultimate blanc look, or the bold color look. But for a teenager, and specifically a high schooler it is safer to add color, rather than wash it out (although personally I would never wear white jeans to school).

Some quick white jean rules:

1. DO NOT buy a pair of jeans that hugs your every curve. It is so trashy to wear white jeans that are essentially jeggings.
2. THONGS AND NUDE UNDERWEAR ladies and (gentlemen)!! We are not a walking peep show. It is possibly the biggest, but most avoidable mistake you can make.
3. USE JUDGEMENT when planning a white jean outfit. Don't wear your furry lace up wedge boots, or a animal fur jacket. White jeans are special, they are a statement within themselves, there is really no need to go "all out".

(Stephanie Pratt wearing a white jean outfit that strangely resembles mine, which was completely coincidental)

(Cindy Crawford d0ing a bright spring white jean look)

(Whitney Port)

(Lauren Conrad... sensing a "The Hills" trend)

(Ashley Tisdale)

(November 2009 Madewell Lookbook)

(Kirstin Cavallari)

(Sarah Jessica Parker, one of my favorite outfits)

(Ashley Tisdale, an example of the ultimate blanc look)

*PS most of these pictures of the celebrities are pretty old.

Updates

Hello Friends!
First off happy (early) Valentines Day! Two weeks from now I will be going on college tours, aka FASHION INSPIRATION (have you ever been on a college tour? have you noticed people gushing style?). I always spot so many fashionable "tourers" as well as college students.
Beside that I am doing surprisingly well with this whole continuous posting thing. I just want to let you know what posts you can look forward too:

  • School Hallway Style (pictures I took of students, with their permission of course, who I noticed in the hallway wearing stylish outfits)

  • Diorshow Mascara Review/RAVE

  • White Jeans After Labor Day (I've been planning this post since October when I wore white jeans "after labor day" but I just haven't gotten around to posting it. But its coming, even though fall is so gone and winter was basically non-existant to begin with. (Here in NY we didn't have winter, it was about 60 degrees in December))

And I'm actually still waiting for someone to ask me a fashion related question! Guys I am so open to suggestions and questions, just ask and I will totally do a post about it.
xoxo

P R O M (2) - renttherunway.com

Hey guys. This is the second in a series of posts I'm writing about prom. I stumbled across some amazing Senior Prom dresses (or full length gowns). So here are some of the dresses I suggest.
Todays featured website is renttherunway.com. Unfortunately you do need to make an account but it takes literally 30 seconds and then you're in.
